The “Cloward-Piven Strategy” and Healthcare Reform?
It is imperative that we all understand the ideas that are driving the Obama administration. President Obama promised “fundamental change that would transform America.” What kind of change? What will bring it about? What will America look like after the change? To understand, you must understand the “Cloward and Piven Strategy.”
Cloward and Piven refers to Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven, who were socioligists and political activists at Columbia University. These were Saul Alinsky followers. They founded a political strategy known as the “Cloward-Piven Strategy.” The goal of Cloward-Piven is to establish a guaranteed national income through the creation of a political crisis through a welfare enrollment drive for Americans who were eligible for welfare and not receiving benefits. Thus, “forcing political change through orchestrated crisis.” [Read this as: crashing the system by overloading it!]
The strategy was focused on the Democratic Party. By exploiting the gap between welfare law and prictice, the strategy would utimately bring about its collapse and replace it with a system of guaranteed annual income. [complete redistribution of wealth] The original goal of the strategy was to bring about a crisis in the welfare system that would require radical reform.
This is a quote from “DiscovertheNetworks.org:” “New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani attempted to expose them in the late 1990s. As his drive for welfare reform gained momentum, Giuliani accused the militant scholars by name, citing their 1966 manifesto as evidence that they had engaged in deliberate economic sabotage. “This wasn’t an accident,” Giuliani charged in a 1997 speech. “It wasn’t an atmospheric thing, it wasn’t supernatural. This is the result of policies and programs designed to have the maximum number of people get on welfare.”
Here is my question: Could this strategy work for healthcare? Could we create a crisis in healthcare that would require radical governmental intervention?
